São Vicente hosts, from 19 to 23 November, the first edition of Cape Verde Ocean Week. The government wants to take advantage of the initiative to display the archipelago as the “privileged stage” of the blue economy in the Middle Atlantic.
The focus of Ocean Week, says the Minister of Maritime Economy, José Gonçalves, will be in the sustainable development of marine resources and the preservation of the health and well-being of the sea.
“Our Government, being strongly committed to the protection of our seas and oceans, preserving marine life and biodiversity, solutions to a sea without garbage and marine conservation strategies, intends to organize an international event annually.
