A SOUTH African man has been arrested after unleashing a racist rant directed towards President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Kessie Nair used a racial slur against the South African president, in a video that has been widely shared online.
In the nearly five-minute long rant Mr Nair says that the president should be charged with “frauding this nation, for oppressing this nation, for high treason for failing and he’s the source to all crime violence poor healthcare, poverty that prevails in a so-called true democracy”.
In the video, he also criticises the current government saying that it is continuing the policies of racial division
According to BBC Africa, Mr Nair is due to appear in court on the charge of crimen injuria, which is defined as impairing the dignity of another.
His family claims Mr Nair has mental health problems and needs help, the Citizen newspaper reports.
A spokesperson for President Ramaphosa said Mr Nair was “clearly a sick person and his racist rant is not deserving of any airtime”, South Africa’s TimesLive news site reported.
“His tirade against the president demonstrates delusional and attention-seeking behaviour,” the spokesperson said, before the arrest.
